Scottish Central Section - Autumn Outing Downfield Golf Club – 13th October 2010 Finally, we managed to play our long awaited Autumn Outing over the beautifully prepared parkland course in the heart of Dundee . After having to postpone on two previous occasions due to heavy rain we managed to get an enthusiastic bunch of willing greenkeepers out to play Paul Murphy’s course. Big thanks to Paul and his staff for all their efforts in preparing the course in such a short space of time. Playing conditions were excellent and the weather on the day was absolutely fantastic and I am sure all enjoyed there golfing day. Scoring on the day was fairly high as the course played longer due to the wet conditions that we have seen recently in the area, but I enjoyed my game ! Many thanks to all that participated in a great outing, especially the trade members and a big thanks to them for their support throughout the year, greatly appreciated, Peter Boyd for assisting with the scoring on the day and your continued support of the section and to our National Chairman – John Geddes who joined us on the day. A final thanks to Downfield for hosting us on the day and to Sam Marshall, Captain of the club for presenting the prizes. Congratulations to all prize winners. It would be remiss of me not to mention Andy O’Hara and Derek Scott who assisted in the organisation of this event in the absence of Andy Mellon, great teamwork guys ! Autumn Tournament 17th September 2009 Crieff Golf Club   Last Thursday saw the Autumn Tournament taking place on a glorious late summer day at Crieff and a turnout of 32 members from the section enjoying a great day on a wonderfully prepared golf course. A big thanks to Crieff Golf Club and of course to Charlie MacDonald and his staff for presenting the course in such great condition. Joining us on the day was Scottish Region Administrator – Peter Boyd who picked up the guest prize and we were also joined by two friends from the States – Dr. Richard Hurley from Rutgers University and Shaun Barry formerly of Bayer Science. We must also thank our patrons for supporting us throughout the year and in particular at these events, many thanks and we look forward to your continued support in the future. Well done to all prize winners and we hope to see you all back next year at our spring outing in St Andrews. . Gordon

Norrie Whittock Trophy 2009

Spring Tournament 30th April 2009 Scotscraig Golf Club   A good turn out off 49 members on a seasonal,showery, spring day enjoyed a great golf course which was in great condition for the visit of the sections members for our Spring Outing. Thanks must go to Scotscraig Golf Club for allowing us courtesy of the course and to George Pendrich and his team for the conditions which they presented for us. Well Done to George and all at Scotscraig ! We were also privileged to have as our guests for the day our Scottish Chairman John Geddes and a delegation of retired Swedish Greenkeepers who were on a golfing holiday in the area and joined us for the day. We must also thank our patrons for continually supporting our outings year in year out, many thanks to you all. Hope everybody enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you all at our Autumn meeting in September at Crieff. Gordon
